New Delhi. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has admitted that the micro-blogging platform’s performance has taken a hit following its acquisition by Elon Musk. He blamed the Twitter board for forcing the Tesla CEO to sell the social media site for $44 billion. Dorsey now uses his new micro-blogging platform called BlueSky which is now available for Android users.
In response to a question from BlueSky user Jason Goldman whether he thought Musk turned out to be the ‘best possible’ steward for Twitter, Dorsey said: No. Nor do I think he did the right thing after realizing his timing was bad. Nor do I think the board should have forced the sale. Everything got messed up.
But it happened, Dorsey said, and all we can do now is do something so it doesn’t happen again. So I’m glad Jay and the team are there and making it happen.
He also said that Twitter would never survive as a public company.
After completing the $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter, Musk has made it a private company.
BlueSky, supported by Dorsey, offers several new features. It was initially launched in closed beta for iOS users only in February.
The platform aims to give users algorithmic choice, and includes features such as tracking likes or bookmarks, editing tweets, retweeting quotes, sending direct messages, using hashtags, and more.
You can click on the plus button to create a post of up to 256 characters on the app, with the facility to attach a photo.
While Twitter asks What’s Happening?, BlueSky asks What’s up?
The BlueSky project started with Twitter in 2019, but the company was formed in 2022 as an independent company with a focus on R&D (research and development) of the social network.
Dorsey is also on the board of BlueSky. It had received an investment of $13 million last year.(IANS)
