The “Emirates” team won the 2023 Dubai Evza Gold Cup for Polo, by defeating the “Al Habtoor Evza” team 10-7, in the final match yesterday, on the grounds of the Al Habtoor Polo and Equestrian Club and Resort in Dubai.
The championship was launched on February 15th, and eight teams participated in it, with a 20-joule handicap. The curtain fell on its competitions yesterday evening, in the midst of a large festive festival.
The closing day of the tournament also included the victory of the “Dubai Wolves of Cavo” team in the “Bentley” Cup, by defeating the “Ghantoot” team 11-8 in the consolation match between the fifth and sixth places. The President of the UAE Polo Federation, Mohammed Al Habtoor, praised the successes achieved by the Dubai Gold Cup throughout its history in the 14 editions held so far. He said, “What has been achieved in the current season this year calls for optimism about the future of polo in the UAE, and its expected positive impact on promoting tourism in the UAE, to be one of the distinguished sports tourism destinations like other sports, thanks to the concerted efforts and cooperation of all.”
The President of the Polo Federation congratulated the “Emirates” team and Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on her team’s victory in the championship cup, and he also congratulated the Dubai Wolves team on winning the Bentley Cup.
