The national karate team won seven colored medals (three silver and four bronze) in the Arab Karate Championship competitions hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, and concluded the day before yesterday, with the participation of 330 male and female players from 10 Arab countries.
The silver medals went to Sheikha Al-Yafei in the individual kata competition for the female category, Rashid Al-Saridi in the individual kumite for the youth category, weighing under 61 kg, and Saif Al-Qaidi in the individual kumite for the under-21 category, weighing under 84 kg.
As for the bronze medals, they were won by Ibrahim Bakhit in the individual kumite for the under-21 category, weighing under 60 kg, Khaled Al Kindi in the individual kumite for the junior category, weighing under 63 kg, Faisal Al-Khalidi in the individual kumite for the junior category, weighing over 70 kg, and Nada Khamis in the individual kumite. Kumite for girls under 14 years old, weight over 52 kg.
The head of the national team delegation and Secretary General of the UAE and Arab Federations, Engineer Humaid Shams Al Zarouni, expressed his pride in this achievement, which he described as a distinguished addition to the UAE karate record, in light of the strong competition witnessed by the tournament.
