Emirati-Qatari Super Shield for “Dubai Knights”

Shabab Al-Ahly won the title of the first edition of the UAE-Qatari Super Shield by defeating Al-Duhail 2-1, yesterday, at Rashid Stadium in Dubai.

The “Dubai Knights” turned a goal behind in the first half through Brazilian Coutinho, into a victory with two goals to one in the second half, with Serbian Luca scoring the equalizing goal, and star Igor Jesus the second goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Shabab Al-Ahly dominated the first half, and wasted a large number of opportunities, as Igor Jesus almost opened the scoring early, when Yahya Al-Ghassani played a corner kick, which Jesus met with his head, but the ball passed past the post (7).

In the second half, Al-Duhail started strong, and almost scored the second goal on two occasions, but Shabab Al-Ahly goalkeeper, Adel Al-Hashemi, shone when he blocked a dangerous ball from Tahseen Mohammed (46), then saved his goal from a powerful shot from Al-Moez Ali (47).

In the 55th minute, the “Dubai Knights” returned to the atmosphere of the match, after Badr Nasser played a cross from a direct free kick, which Luka Milijovic headed into the goal, scoring the equalizer for the home team.

Shabab Al-Ahly continued their advantage in the midfield, but without threatening the goal, before the team became active in the last minutes of the match, and Yahya Al-Ghassani played a direct free kick, and Igor Jesus rose to it and nodded to it in the same way as the first goal, adding the second goal, The “Dubai Knights” achieved victory in the fatal time, and won the Emirati-Qatari Super Shield title.
