Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, killing a terrorist

The encounter took place on Saturday in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. One militant was killed in the shooting. Clashes broke out between security forces and militants in Drabgam area. After receiving information about the terrorists, the security forces reached there and carried out inspections. The militants were spotted and opened fire. Kashmir Zone Police Vijay Kumar IGP said that a militant was killed in the encounter.

Earlier, an encounter took place in Kulgam district. Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant Shauch Kulgam resident Rasik Ahmed Ghani was killed in an encounter with security forces, a police spokesman said. Encounter said his body was recovered from the scene. Security forces conducted a cordon search operation based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Khandipora area of ​​Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

Police said the search operation turned out to be an encounter as terrorists hiding at the time opened fire indiscriminately on the forces. However, troops evacuated civilians trapped at the scene of the encounter. Also, security forces foiled a major conspiracy by terrorists on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway. IEDs deployed on the Baramulla-Srinagar National Highway were defused by the forces. It appears that the IED was set to target the forces.
