Engineering units of the Central Military District (CVO) ensure the mobility of combat units in the special operation zone (SVO) even on their professional holiday, which is celebrated on January 21. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed footage of the combat work of the military personnel of the unit.
Reconnaissance engineers perform the tasks of clearing the area and civilian infrastructure from explosive objects, which are based on anti-personnel mines PFM-1 “Petal”, MON-50, anti-tank mines TM-62, installed on non-removable, and mines of foreign production.
“Ensuring the safe advance of our troops is the most important thing, so that there are minimal losses from mines. They (Ukrainian militants. – Ed.) leave a lot of both anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, ”- a sapper with the call sign Student.
Rich combat experience allows us to complete the assigned tasks on time, eliminating the loss of Russian servicemen.
During the NMD, military personnel of the unit discovered and defused more than 80 thousand mines on the routes of movement of military columns and civilian infrastructure facilities.
“Our role is engineering support for combat units, bridge crossings, engineering reconnaissance of roads, demining, camouflage. According to our data, more than 80,000 explosive objects were demined, including unexploded artillery, directly mines, as well as a land mine, which the enemy left during the withdrawal. Also in the cities, they were engaged in humanitarian demining of the so-called traps that they (the Ukrainian military. – Ed.) left for civilians and sappers, ”said Lieutenant Colonel Farid Abdurazakov, head of the engineering unit of the Central Military District.
The command of the Central Military District notes the high efficiency and dedication of the actions of the personnel of the engineering and sapper units in the course of the NMD.
Earlier that day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu congratulated military personnel and veterans of the engineering troops on the day of the engineering troops. He noted their high professionalism during the special military operation.
In addition, the head of the military department expressed confidence that the personnel of the troops would continue to contribute to ensuring the defense capability of Russia and protecting its national interests.

The day before, the military department singled out the merits of Sergeant Yevgeny Gorbachev, who, as part of the engineering and reconnaissance patrol, ensures the safety of the movement of Russian troops conducting offensive operations against the positions of Ukrainian militants. He personally neutralized five enemy mines and land mines, which allowed the column to cross the terrain without hindrance.
The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
