By the Victory Day in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, eternal lights will be lit at the monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. This was announced in an interview with Izvestia by the head of the executive committee of the ONF, Mikhail Kuznetsov.
“The Popular Front has its own small contribution to the celebration of Victory Day. A few years ago, public figures from the Burdenko Hospital began to take the fire from the Alexander Garden from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to the cities of Russia. Last year we helped them, and the action became more ambitious. This year, the fire will fly to 10 countries of the world, go to 35 cities of Russia and, of course, to the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, where eternal lights will be lit at the monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War,” he said.
For those veterans who will no longer be able to come and salute the dead, the ONF will bring fire home so that “on this solemn day they feel together with our entire vast motherland on Red Square – next to those who did not return home then for the sake of a common victory over fascism,” said Mikhail Kuznetsov.
