Dubai: A police officer was seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car. The injured policeman’s leg was amputated. The incident took place in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The incident came to light when the 30-year-old woman, who was driving a luxury car, approached the court seeking relief in the case. The accident took place on March 21 last.

The car was driven by a woman from UAE. The policeman and another person were hit by a Porsche car. In the middle of the road, while the officers were pushing the broken down vehicle to one side of the road, a speeding Porsche car hit them. The damaged vehicle was pushed to the side of the road by sounding the police siren. But without paying attention to that, the luxury car rammed into the damaged vehicle at high speed. A working police officer was seriously injured. Passengers in the damaged vehicle were also injured.

A road safety expert found that the woman’s carelessness was the sole cause of the accident. A case has been registered for endangering life and causing damage to property. The court sentenced them to one month in jail. After that it has been decided to suspend the license. The woman who confessed to the crimes in the court said that she did not do this knowingly. Later, the victim decided to avoid the prison sentence and replace it with a fine of 10,000 dirhams. The prosecution has filed an application for a retrial in the case. The prosecution has appealed against the reduced sentence. The victim will be heard in a few days.
