Meanwhile, Royal Oman Police arrested three expatriates for bringing banned tobacco products into the country. The banned products were seized during the inspection conducted in Barka district of South Bathina governorate. A fine of 3000 riyals was imposed on three foreigners. Inspection and Market Control Department of Consumer Protection Authority led the inspection.

The arrested are Asian workers. The authorities conducted the inspection based on the information that prohibited products were being sold in this area. Judicial control officers are the ones who catch this type of gang. They were also caught with the help of the joint team for tobacco control. 1,021 bags of tobacco were seized. The police found the tobacco and tied it up. They were taken for other legal proceedings.
