Expatriates’ work permits are subject to educational qualifications only; Kuwait that the process has started

Kuwait: Kuwait has started the process of linking the educational qualification of the expatriates working in the country and the work permit for the post they are working. Manpower Public Authority is implementing the new system in this regard. The news is reported by Al Qabas daily.

Names of posts allotted to various private sector organizations will be checked. Later the educational qualifications will be determined. With the full implementation of the scheme, it will be possible to prevent those without adequate educational qualifications from working in the respective posts. With this, expatriates working in the country without educational qualification will suffer. Kuwait has come up with such a measure to reduce the number of expatriates in the country. All verification of qualifications and certificates will be conducted by the Occupational Safety Center of the Public Authority for Manpower.

Those doing jobs in finance and banking fields should be directly related to educational qualifications. It should be ensured that no expatriate without educational qualification is employed in any sector. Companies can check the qualifications of the required posts through the Sahel application, thereby verifying the qualifications of the workers. Also the current employees can be transferred to the posts according to their educational qualifications. Officials say that it will be possible to remove expatriates working in unqualified posts from this.
