The resumption of official deliveries of Samsung products to the Russian market is postponed indefinitely, employees of two partner companies of electronics manufacturers told Izvestia.
This will not happen before the completion of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, one of them believes. Samsung, like other large transnational corporations, is afraid of secondary sanctions from the United States, another Izvestia interlocutor believes.
Earlier, a source close to the company told Izvestia that Samsung would probably resume deliveries to Russia before the end of this year. This could have happened in October, an employee of the partner company of the South Korean vendor specified. Then a source familiar with the managers of the Russian office of the company said that the plans were adjusted due to partial mobilization in the Russian Federation.
According to market participants interviewed by Izvestia, by November 22 the situation remained the same, and there is nothing to indicate that it will change before the end of this month.
“Supplies to Russia are still suspended. Samsung has not made any decision to resume deliveries, ”the company’s press service confirmed to the editors.
Samsung is in no hurry to resume deliveries to Russia, fearing condemnation in other countries – in particular, in the US and Europe, said Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group. The vendor is afraid of losing the largest markets, various boycotts on them, the expert believes.
He also spoke about the fears associated with secondary sanctions. Many of the world’s largest transnational corporations are waiting for one of them to resume sales in the Russian Federation in order to follow its example, Eldar Murtazin believes.
