Russians began to receive offers of highly paid jobs supposedly from well-known companies. Behind these mailings lies a fraudulent scheme to attract people to phishing sites and extort large sums of money from them, experts in the field of cybersecurity told Izvestia on September 9.
For a few hours of remote work, people are promised income from 3 to 30 thousand rubles a day. Ozon, Wildberries, Aliexpress, Amazon and other large online trading platforms are mentioned in such messages as companies looking for employees.
One of the victims of the deception, Victoria Samoilova from Bataysk, told Izvestia about the fraud scheme. The victim is told that the purpose of her work is to increase the rating of a particular online store. To do this, you need to make purchases at your own expense, but not for yourself. At the end of the day, both the money spent and his “earnings” are returned to the person.
For example, having made purchases for 6 thousand rubles, a person could receive 7200 rubles. Every day the amounts increased. But when they reached tens or hundreds of thousands, the return of money stopped and people lost money.
“First, a person sees that the scheme works. Even if he understands that the scheme is fraudulent, he begins to think that he has got to the very beginning of the “pyramid”, and therefore he can have time to make a profit, ”explained Igor Ashmanov, president of Qvibrum JSC, an expert in artificial intelligence.
According to Izvestia’s sources in law enforcement agencies, the statements of fraudsters affected by similar actions come from different regions. For example, a medical student from India, Khon Kamran, who lives in Bashkortostan, lost almost 700 thousand rubles per day in this way.
