Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said today, Friday, that the resumption of relations with Iran comes from the Kingdom’s vision based on the preference for dialogue, adding that the one destiny of the countries of the region makes it necessary to build a model of stability.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan wrote on his Twitter account: “The resumption of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran comes from the Kingdom’s vision based on preferring political solutions and dialogue, and its keenness to perpetuate that in the region. The countries of the region have one destiny and common denominators that make it necessary to We share together to build a model of prosperity and stability for our peoples to enjoy.”

This comes after Saudi Arabia and Iran announced today that they had reached an agreement to resume diplomatic relations between them and to reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months.
A joint statement between Saudi Arabia, Iran and China said that the agreement, which was reached in Beijing, includes the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers holding a meeting to activate these steps, arrange the exchange of ambassadors and discuss ways to strengthen relations between them.
The tripartite statement, published by the Saudi Press Agency, added that Tehran and Riyadh also agreed to activate the security cooperation agreement between them signed in 2001, and the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth signed in 1998.
The joint statement stated that the agreement included Saudi Arabia and Iran’s affirmation of “respecting the sovereignty of states and not interfering in their internal affairs.”
