The former national team and Shabab Al-Ahly club player, Faisal Khalil, revealed that his most beautiful football memories are related to participating in the Gulf Cup, especially the goal he scored against Kuwait during “Gulf 18,” and his assist on another goal scored by Ismail Matar.
Faisal Khalil is one of the UAE national team’s knights who contributed to winning the “Gulf 18” title, which was hosted by the UAE in 2007 and was the team’s first achievement, while Khalil also participated in the Gulf Championship in the 2003 and 2004 editions.
Faisal Khalil said in statements to “Emirates Al-Youm” that the current team is a strong candidate to achieve distinguished results and win the “Gulf 26” championship, which begins today in Kuwait, calling on the public to strongly support the team.
Faisal Khalil said that one of the most important secrets of Al-Abyad’s victory in the first Gulf title was the audience, which was distinguished and gave the players great momentum to give their best performance, hoping that the audience would continue to support and encourage the team in all competitions, including the current championship.
He continued: “I participated with the national team in (Gulf 16) in Kuwait and (Gulf 17) in Qatar, and the last Gulf participation was in (Gulf 18) in the Emirates, where I lived my most beautiful memories, and I was part of crowning the first title and winning gold, which is the football station. Which opened the doors to amazing victories later achieved by the UAE teams.”
Faisal Khalil expressed his happiness for scoring in the three Gulf tournaments in which he participated, averaging a goal in each tournament, especially since they were decisive goals, and it is considered his most expensive goal, which he scored against Kuwait in 2007.
