At the beginning of the season, cotton was priced at Rs 8,000 per quintal. However, Ranura fell below Rs 7,000. On Monday, the highest price was Rs 8,650 per quintal in Bhainsa market in Nirmal district and Rs 8,550 per quintal in Kubir market. Other major markets currently have prices in excess of Rs 8,000. Farmers are happy with the rise in cotton prices. Cotton prices are also rising in neighboring Maharashtra.
Due to heavy rains in the state, cotton yields did not come as expected. Naturally, the yield was expected to be 8 to 12 quintals per acre. Cotton stocks in cotton factories, which are seeing an increase in prices, are either stocking up or running out of tens of thousands.
