Chandigarh. Punjab Police has detained Jagjit Singh Dallewal, President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Sidhupur. He was taken from Khanori border at 3.30 pm. Where he was going to sit on a fast unto death from today. Information is coming that he has been admitted to DMC of Ludhiana.
Jagjit Dallewal had said yesterday that since February 13, continuous agitation is going on at Haryana border Shambhu and Khanori border but the central government is not serious about their demands. While giving information, State President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Totewal, Sukh Gill said that around 200 policemen came at 3:30 in the night and arrested Jagjit Singh Dallewal.
A call was given by the workers of Bharatiya Kisan Union Sidhpur and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti, who have been on strike since the month of February regarding the minimum support price and many other demands, to intensify the struggle from today. Under which Jagjit Singh Dallewal had to do an immortal fast at Khanori border.
He also announced that even if something happens to him during this period, this fast will not stop. In his place, some other leader will sit on the fast till death. Today, before starting the fast, he handed over all his land and property in the name of his heirs. However, in the meantime, the Supreme Court also constituted a committee of agricultural experts under the leadership of Justice Nawab Singh, which was also entrusted with the task of opening the National Highway route from Shambhu border by holding talks with farmer organizations.
