New Delhi. Farmers of Punjab sitting at Shambhu border demanding implementation of MSP and other demands postponed their march to Delhi till Sunday. Farmers have given the government an ultimatum for talks today. On the other hand, in view of the call given by the farmers of Punjab to march to Delhi, strict vigil is being maintained on the Narwana-Patiala road till the Datasingh border.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the doors of farmer groups are open for talks. If the central government invites talks, then steps can be taken towards resolving the demands. Pandher said that BJP leaders will be surrounded in Punjab on Saturday and farmers will once again leave for Delhi march on Sunday.
Keeping in mind the concerns of some farmers, the road in Ujhana has been made one-way. Blocks have also been put up on the Narwana Canal Bridge. Despite this the traffic remained normal. Means going to Punjab also kept getting diverted from Ujhana. Whereas the border of Data Singh is already sealed.
Earlier on Friday, the farmers who had proceeded to march to Delhi could not enter the border of Haryana. At Shambhu border of Haryana-Punjab, Haryana Police and paramilitary forces stopped them from moving forward. This led to a clash between the police and the farmers which lasted for about two and a half hours. In this confrontation, the police had to use pepper spray and tear gas shells, in which 15 farmers were injured. The condition of 26 year old farmer Harpreet Singh is critical. Six Haryana Police personnel were also injured.
