Farooq Abdullah answering the journalist’s question after coming out of the Parliament House on Tuesday.
National Conference Chief and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said on the question asked on Jammu and Kashmir – Jammu and Kashmir should go to hell. Farooq had come out after taking part in the proceedings of Parliament.
The journalist had asked a question related to Jammu and Kashmir. To which he said, what more can he say? Farooq said- You people have taken him there. People’s hearts have to be won, but how. How will this happen when you do such things which push people further away?
Farooq Abdullah said- I have not set fire in Kashmir.
Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision
On Monday, the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Also said that statehood should be restored as soon as possible. It should take steps to hold assembly elections by September 30 next year.
Clarification given in case of dispute
When controversy started over Farooq’s statement, Abdullah gave clarification by asking questions to BJP. He accused the BJP of turning heaven on earth into hell. Abdullah, in his clarification, raised several issues including the division of Jammu and Kashmir and non-holding of elections for the last four years. Abdullah said, I have not set fire in Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir was heaven. Who turned it into hell? Have we been able to win hearts? If elections can be held anywhere in the country, then why not in Kashmir?
The BJP has been accusing the Abdullah government and subsequent governments of mishandling the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir, which led to terrorism there.
Abdullah accused a section of the media of promoting hatred in the country and advised that the media should be used to win hearts. He said, we have many enemies and spreading such hatred at this time will only weaken us.
Nehru is not responsible – Farooq
Earlier in the day, Abdullah had said that India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was not responsible for Article 370.
BJP said- this is the real face of INDIA alliance
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, reacting to Abdullah’s statement, said the DMK demanded self-determination. Now Farooq is saying this. Only because the Supreme Court upheld the abrogation of Article 370. With this, the politics of nepotism, stone pelting and Pakistan-based politics has ended.
He said on X that this is the real face of INDIA alliance. They want (Article) 370 back and they do not care about Jammu and Kashmir at all. If it is not so then INDIA Alliance should condemn this statement. National Conference is also a member of the alliance.
