Today, any platform in the fashion world is becoming a socio-political mouthpiece. The Miss Universe beauty contest was no exception in this regard, Ekaterina Lavrovskaya, a fashion columnist and PR manager from Milan, said in an interview with Izvestia on Sunday, January 15.
She noted that beauty contests are a priori not a creative process, but a commercial one, where a lot of money is invested.
“In my memory, there is not a single Miss Universe winner who would become the muse of a true artist in the fashion world. Here the question is not at all about creativity, but about sociopolitical ambitions. Therefore, I am not at all surprised by the fact that an American won the competition, ”said Lavrovskaya.
At the same time, as the browser pointed out, a similar principle applies to all fashion venues in the world. She cited New York Fashion Week as an example.
The final of the 71st annual international beauty contest “Miss Universe” was held on January 14 in the US city of New Orleans. The American R’Bonnie Gabrielle became the winner.
However, the victory soon overshadowed the scandal. The girl was accused of dishonestly obtaining the title of “Miss USA” – allegedly the victory was falsified and was the result of “favoritism”.
Russia at Miss Universe was represented by 22-year-old Miss Russia 2022 Anna Linnikova. She failed to reach the final of the competition. The second place was taken by the participant from Venezuela Amanda Dudamel. Third was Andreina Martinez from the Dominican Republic.
