On the night of June 22, an action dedicated to the Day of Memory and Sorrow was held in the center of Saratov. Its participants, who gathered in Victory Park on Sokolova Gora, created a “Fiery Picture of War” out of 10,000 candles.
The author of the sketch is the artist Dmitry Zhumaev. The painting is located on an area of 450 square meters. m. It took four hours to lay it out of the candles. The work symbolized a mother escorting her son to the front. Below was the inscription “Saratov Remembers”.
Exactly at 2.00 the picture began to “revive”. Activists of the Young Guard of United Russia, as well as volunteers from the public movement Volunteers of Victory, helped light the candles.
Immediately after that, a column of representatives of veteran organizations, military-patriotic and national-cultural associations, cadets and law enforcement officers headed to the Eternal Flame. A Minute of Silence was announced, and flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame, Vzglyad-info news agency writes.
On June 22, rallies at the Eternal Flame and monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War will be held in all regions of Russia. In addition, at 12:15 Moscow time, an all-Russian minute of silence was announced throughout the country.
