- FIFA Connera with Supreme Court intervention
FIFA does not tolerate third party interference in football federations. It could be the government or the courts. It seems that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has acted with indifference despite knowing this matter. AIFF President election has not been held since December, 2020. With that, the Supreme Court intervened on May 18 this year and imposed a ban on AIFF President Prapul Patel. Similarly, the Supreme Court appointed a three-member committee to look after the activities of the All India Football Federation.
Fifa, which conducted an investigation in this background, announced that India will be banned due to third party interference in AIFF. There are indications that the AIFF President Elections will be held on August 28 as per the orders of the Supreme Court. If the ban imposed by FIFA on India is to be removed, the committee appointed by the Supreme Court should leave the responsibilities and the powers should come back into the hands of AIFF.
