FIFA World Cup; Arrangements are being made to make Qatari houses available for rent to visitors

Doha: Qatar is set to rent out Qatari homes for World Cup visitors and tourists. The Ministry of Municipality is planning to provide this opportunity to the visitors to get to know and understand the local culture and way of life. Munsur Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Municipal Environment, said talks were underway with Qatar Tourism in this regard.

He said Qatar was considering giving away homes to foreigners arriving in the country within a specified period. He was speaking at the Build Your House 2021 exhibition at the Qatar National Convention Center. Qataris who want to leave home, especially during the World Cup, can be part of the plan.

Qatar currently offers a wide range of accommodation, including hotels, cruise ships, luxury camp sites and holiday homes, for World Cup visitors. As part of this, Qatar had earlier formulated a holiday home project.

For those who own residential apartments and villas in tourist centers and elsewhere, they are rented out to foreigners for a maximum of 30 days. Authorities had earlier advised those interested to register for the scheme.

Munsour Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the plan was to provide Qatari homes to visitors with the aim of providing the best possible accommodation and other facilities for guests arriving in Qatar to watch football and as part of tourism.
