The Arab Muay Thai Federation announced the organization of the Arab Muay Thai Professional Championship (Fight Night) on August 17 for the first time, and it will be held at Space 42 Arena on Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi.
A press release stated that the championship is being held within the framework of the Arab Muay Thai Federation’s efforts to develop the game at the level of Arab federations, and to continue plans and competitions aimed at developing players, raising the level of readiness, and contributing to creating professionals and champions capable of representing their countries in international forums and championships in the best possible way.
The championship will witness the participation of 28 fighters representing 14 Arab countries: the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, and Lebanon, which reflects the significant Arab participation in this championship and the prestigious position that Muay Thai has reached.
The championship also brings together an elite group of Arab professionals from different categories and weights who will participate in 15 exciting fights, led by the UAE national team player Mohammed Marzi, the three-time world champion under 67 kg (Class B), and the world silver medalist for Muay Thai, recently in Greece, alongside the Palestinian player Amir Al-Amleh, the gold medalist for the World Muay Thai Championship under 63 kg (Class B), the Moroccan Hamza Rashid, the bronze medalist for the World Muay Thai Championship, and the Iraqi champion Sajjad Bashir, in addition to a distinguished group of elite Arab fighters and professionals.
The list of competitive matches also includes four fights for the UAE champions, Mohammed Marzi, Ibrahim Bilal, Ahmed Al Shammar and Rafi Ramzi. The tournament will witness a draw for the semi-final matches to compete for the Arab belt title in the 67 kg under middleweight category. Fans will be able to attend the matches for free, enjoy watching their favorite stars, and choose from the matches of the eventful day.
For his part, the President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federation, and the President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, said: “The championship represents an important milestone in the journey of Arab professionals, and contributes to raising their experience and performance, in support of the Arab Federation’s plans aimed at creating and qualifying a diverse group of generations of champions, in preparation for their participation in major international championships.”
He continued: “The creation of a new championship for professionals confirms the distinguished foundation of Muay Thai in the Arab world, and the champions and elite it includes who are capable of achieving success for Arab sports in general, and for Muay Thai in particular,” expressing his pride in the Arab stars who create glory and achieve the best levels in continental and international forums.
