Fiorella Cayo, Alessia Rovegno’s aunt, has once again made the news after being arrested in the early hours of June 24. The National Police of Peru (PNP) intervened her for having run a red light while she was driving down the avenue Hipólito Unanue with General Mendiburu Street, in the Miraflores district. She was reportedly driving while apparently intoxicated.
During the intervention, the PNP agents requested that the model get out of the car to perform coordination and balance tests, in order to check if she was under the influence of alcohol, the artist refused to follow the officers’ instructions. This refusal motivated the authorities to take additional measures to verify her status.
Fiorella Cayo intervened by the National Police
Fiorella Cayo was arrested by PNP agents in the early hours of Monday, June 24. The incident occurred at the intersection of Hipólito Unánue Avenue and General Mendiburu Street, in the Miraflores district, when the actress was caught driving in an apparent state of intoxication.
According to the police report, Fiorella Cayo would have run a red light, which led the officers to stop her vehicle to carry out legal procedures.
Fiorella Cayo passed an alcohol test and tested positive
Due to Fiorella Cayo’s refusal to undergo the coordination and balance tests, the agents transferred her to a polyclinic in the Surquillo district to carry out an alcohol test. According to the intervention report, the result of this test was positive, thus confirming that the actress was under the influence of alcohol at the time of her arrest.
After obtaining the positive result of the alcohol test, Fiorella Cayo was taken to the Miraflores police station, where she remained detained for several hours. During her stay at the police station, her mother, Ana Cecilia Sanguinetti, was present to accompany her. The presence of other close relatives, such as her sisters, was not observed at the police station.
Subsequently, it was learned that Fiorella Cayo took advantage of the principle of opportunity and paid civil reparation to regain her freedom. This principle allowed him to be released under the commitment to comply with certain legal obligations and the corresponding payment.

The June 24 incident is not the first in the history of Fiorella Cayo related to traffic problems and the law. In June 2010, Fiorella Cayo was returning from her dance studio, located in a shopping center in Los Olivos, when she was arrested for driving while using her cell phone. According to the police report, the former member of ‘Torbellino’ opposed the sanction and caused injuries to the right leg of agent Angélica Mendoza Torres by running over her with her truck.
This incident triggered an extensive judicial process that lasted for two years. Finally, Fiorella Cayo was found guilty of the crimes of resisting authority, omission to help, and exposure to danger. As a result, she was given a 4-year suspended prison sentence and a fine of 10,000 soles as civil reparation in favor of the affected agent.
At the time, Fiorella Cayo expressed her disagreement with the court ruling. “The sentence was not fair. If I were guilty, I would accept it, but it was not like that. I consider that I am going to appeal to the Peruvian justice system, God willing. I have always told the truth, I am a correct person and the truth has helped me “You can’t take things the wrong way,” he told the press after hearing the ruling.
