Panaji: A new international airport named after late former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was constructed at Mopa in North Goa district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this airport on December 11.
The first passenger flight from Hyderabad arrived at this airport yesterday. With this, air traffic started at the new airport. An IndiGo flight from Hyderabad with 179 passengers landed at Manohar International Airport at 9 am yesterday. Union Minister and North Goa MP Sripath Naik, State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and State Tourism Minister Rogan Conte welcomed the passengers. A band outside the airport also welcomed the passengers. A total of 11 flights arrived at Goa’s new airport yesterday.
Goa also has another international airport. It is 50 km from the INS Hansa Air Base at Damolim in South Goa.
