Gaza: The UN’s World Food Program has warned that food supplies are running out fast in Gaza. The war between Israel and Hamas entered the 11th day on Tuesday. In this, more than 1,400 people have died on the Israeli side. More than 2,700 people have been killed and 9,700 injured in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. More than 1 million people have evacuated Gaza after Israel issued an order to evacuate the city. About 60 percent of them are in an area 14 kilometers south of Gaza, according to the UN.
Thousands of people have fled Gaza and sought refuge in Egypt. Israel has concentrated its forces along the Gaza border. Thus, it is feared that the war will intensify. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden is going to Israel on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken has said.
In this case, UN said that food supplies are running out fast in Gaza. The World Food Program has warned. In this regard, Abeer Etefa, the spokesperson of the organization, said, “Two weeks ago, there was enough food stock. But now, the shortage of food items has increased. The shortage of food items has increased rapidly due to Israel’s decision to force people to leave Gaza City.
Only 1 in 5 factories that add value to food products are currently operational. Other engines were not operated due to safety reasons and lack of fuel and electricity. The challenge before the UN World Food Program is to ensure that enough food is available for sale at this time of crisis. “People are waiting in very long queues in front of the few bakeries that are functioning,” he said.
Meanwhile, Spain has taken steps to send food items worth 10 lakh euros to Gaza. “Spain has taken this step to ensure the availability of food to the people in Gaza. We will send more food to Gaza,” said the Spanish Foreign Minister.
