Florida Tech University, Florida, USA, has decided to nominate the Saudi student, Amira Al-Sulami, for the Distinguished Student Award, which the university awards annually to outstanding students, for their academic and community contributions.
The student’s nomination came as a result of her commitment and academic achievements, which included creating a document in Arabic for new Saudi students as a research guide, as one of the new librarians was asked to create a similar research guide in English for all new students.
The document contains a table of contents outlining and detailing all the systems and programs necessary for student success at the university, along with a semester calendar in Arabic, including the days the university is closed, Arab holidays, visa and immigration deadlines, and deadlines for registrants.
The Dean of the Evans Library, Coordinator of the University’s Cultural Competition Program, Nancy E. Garmer, considered that the student Amira is one of the most interactive students and shares ideas and the latest projects, as she is passionate about sharing the Kingdom’s culture with the university community and schedules special events.
