England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will face his former team, Tottenham Hotspur, for the first time next August, after the English club announced that they will face the Bavarian giant as part of their pre-season tour in Seoul.
Tottenham had previously announced that it would face Vissel Kobe in Japan on July 27, before landing in Korea to face Bayern on August 3 at Seoul Stadium, which hosted the World Cup finals.
Tottenham said in a statement on Monday: “We are pleased to announce that our first men’s team will travel to South Korea as part of the preparatory tour in Asia this summer.”
This will be Tottenham’s fourth visit to South Korea, where it enjoys widespread popularity due to the presence of star Heung-Min Son.
“It is great to have the opportunity to connect with our huge fan base in the country,” Tottenham CEO Donna-Maria Cullen said.
She continued, “I know that Sonny in particular cannot wait to play again in front of his fans, and it will be exciting for him to return while representing us as club captain.”
Bayern also includes a Korean player, defender Min-Jae Kim, and a former Tottenham player, Eric Dier.
While Tottenham, led by Son, ranked fifth in the English Premier League standings, ending the season on Sunday with a major victory over Sheffield United, which was relegated to the second division 4-0, Bayern lost the German League title for the first time in 12 years and ended the season in third place.
