Bangladesh has to participate in this tournament next month and before that, Bangladesh Cricket Board and fellow player Nazmul Shanto had urged Iqbal to reconsider his decision of retirement, but Tamim has decided not to do so.

In ODIs, he has scored a total of 8,357 runs in 240 matches. He also has 25 international centuries to his name.
