Sports Desk. Before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan, the legendary former captain of Bangladesh cricket team Tamim Iqbal retired from international cricket. Bangladesh has to participate in this tournament next month and before that, Bangladesh Cricket Board and fellow player Nazmul Shanto had urged Iqbal to reconsider his decision of retirement, but Tamim has decided not to do so.
Tamim recently met the national selection panel, which is busy preparing the Bangladesh team for the mega event. Tamim’s retirement story has been full of ups and downs. He (Tamim Iqbal) surprised the cricket world by announcing his retirement during a series in 2023, but changed his decision a day later after discussing with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. However, due to injury and a long absence from international cricket, he had to withdraw. He was last seen playing a match against New Zealand in September 2023.

In ODIs, he has scored a total of 8,357 runs in 240 matches. He also has 25 international centuries to his name.
