Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor and Chief Minister have condoled the death of former Chief Election Commissioner Naresh Gupta.
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Election Commissioner and IAS officer Naresh Gupta passed away today due to ill health. He served as the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu from 2005 to 2010 and is well known for his efforts to make the elections fair and honest during the winter.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has condoled his death. A Twitter post issued by the Raj Bhavan said, “Sad demise of Senior IAS officer Naresh Gupta. He served the people of Tamil Nadu with great diligence and integrity and will always be remembered as a great administrator. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”
Similarly, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin has issued a condolence statement. In it, “I am saddened to learn of the passing away of former Chief Electoral Officer and Gandhian devotee Naresh Gupta IAS (retd). Naresh Gupta was a senior IAS officer who served in many high positions as Home Secretary, Member-Secretary of the State Planning Commission. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends,” he said.
