Islamabad: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned to his native country today (October 21) after 4 years.
Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 7 years in prison in 2018 by a Pakistani court in a corruption case. Subsequently, Nawaz Sharif was lodged in Kotlakbad Jail in Lahore. In this case, on October 22, Nawaz Sharif suddenly had chest pain. The doctors who examined him assumed it was a heart attack and gave him intensive care at the prison hospital. After returning home after treatment, Nawaz Sharif left Lahore for London on November 19, 2019.
Due to Imran Khan’s rule in Pakistan, he remained in London. In this case, he returned to Islamabad today (21.10.2023) in view of the general election to be held in Pakistan in January. Earlier, he came to Dubai from London, stayed there for a few days and has now returned to his native country. He took a flight from Islamabad to Lahore and will return home later. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party has organized a grand reception in Lahore to mark his arrival.
Commenting on Nawaz Sharif’s visit, senior party leader Khwaja Mohammad Asif said, “This is a moment of celebration. Nawaz Sharif’s visit will also reverberate in Pakistan’s economy. There will be happiness among the people.”
