America. Former US President Jimmy Carter died on Sunday at the age of 100. He was the oldest American President ever. He was also the third US President to visit India. Jimmy Carter died at his home in Georgia. He was suffering from skin cancer (melanoma), which had spread to his liver and brain.
He had stopped treatment and was being cared for at home. Atlanta-based Carter Center informed about his death. His son Chip Carter said, “My father was a hero to me and to everyone who believes in peace, human rights and selfless love. He brought people together and made the whole world our family. Keep adopting these values in his memory.”
US President Joe Biden expressed condolences on the death of Jimmy Carter, saying, “This is a sad day, but at the same time there are many incredible memories associated with him. I think America and the world have lost a remarkable leader today. He was a politician and humanitarian and I too have lost a dear friend. I have known Jimmy Carter for more than 50 years.”
It is noteworthy that former US President Jimmy Carter had served a term from 1977 to 1981 on behalf of the Democrat Party. During his tenure, achievements like the Camp David Agreement between Israel and Egypt were achieved. Even after his presidency, Carter did extraordinary work and in 2002, Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize.
