Eisenbichler’s absence in the national team is a surprise for fans, who find it difficult to imagine a World Cup competition without the titled ski jumper. However, the decision made by coach Stefan Horgnacher can be defended – In the recent German championship, Eisenbichler was only tenth, and in his only summer starts in the Grand Prix series, he was first twenty-second in Hinzenbach, and then thirty-fourth in Klingenthal. With this form, it would be difficult for him to get high places in Ruka.
However, there are more great players absent from the German squad. Horngacher also decided to remove Constantin Schmid from the first team, who was also a permanent representative of Germany at the World Cup in recent years. However, he was ninth in the national championship, just ahead of Eisenbichler.
