The heads of the French energy giants Engie and E.D. EF and Total Energy in the French weekly Journal du Dimanche, today, Sunday, that consumers and companies must reduce their energy consumption “immediately” in order to be better prepared this winter to deal with the looming energy crisis.
“We need to work collectively to reduce our consumption in order to regain room for maneuver,” these companies added in an open letter, according to the agency “Reuters”.
In their letter, the companies drew attention to sharp declines in shipments of Russian gas, as well as limited electricity production in Europe due to maintenance problems.
“Taking action as soon as this summer will allow us to be more prepared at the beginning of next winter, particularly to preserve our gas reserves,” they said.
