New Delhi: Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy said India has many opportunities for adventure tourism at the second operational meeting of the G20 summit in Siliguri.
The international G20 summit is going to be held in India. Prior to this, operational meetings for G20 are being held in many parts of the country. After the first meeting was held in Pune, Maharashtra last January, the second meeting began yesterday in Siliguri, West Bengal.
Amidst this gathering, an adventure tourism program was held at Kurseong, Darjeeling near Siliguri. Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy who inaugurated this said: There are many opportunities for nature adventure tourism in India. Adventure tourism paves the way for sustainable development of a country.
Kurseong, the foothills of the Himalayas, is a fitting place to hold this discussion. The Himalayas are the world’s best field for adventure. India has many opportunities for adventure tourism in the four elements of nature – land, water, sky and air. 70 percent of the Himalayas are located in India. Seven main rivers form in it and flow for 700 km.
Due to this, adventure tourism is gaining immense popularity in India and abroad. To make this better, the Government of India is planning to develop several strategies as a matter of policy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting this in various ways. To this end, the central government is setting up youth tourism clubs in educational institutions across the country.
Through this, adventure tourism will grow. Our mission is to make India the world’s best in adventure tourism. Minister Kishan Reddy said this.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 17 countries including G20 members Russia, Canada and Germany. Singh Kapoor was accompanied by diplomatic officials and representatives of Spain, Nigeria, Oban, Mauritius, Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates.
