Coimbatore: The District Collector held a consultation with the higher officials regarding the conduct of games for the Chief Minister’s Cup.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, a consultation meeting with departmental officers was held at the district collector’s office regarding the conduct of district-level sports competitions for Chief Minister’s Cup. District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer Raghu presided.
District Collector G.S. Sameeran presided over the meeting and said: The Chief Minister has announced that the state and district level Chief Minister’s Cup games will be held for the Olympic Games and the two traditional sports of Kabaddi and Silambatam. A consultation meeting was held in this regard.
A total of 50 types of competitions are going to be held, namely 42 types of district level competitions and 8 types of regional level competitions for men and women to participate separately in five categories of district level sports competitions namely school, college students, girls, differently abled, public and government employees.
District level competitions will be held in January and February and state level competitions in May. Necessary awareness measures should be taken so that a large number of school, college students, differently-abled, public and government employees can participate in the district-level Chief Minister’s Cup sports competitions.
Necessary safety arrangements, cleaning of the venues, basic facilities, medical first aid etc. should be arranged at the places where the competitions are held. The online registration for Chief Minister’s Cup has been extended till 17th. Sportspersons who want to participate in Chief Minister’s Cup games should register through the website www.sdat.tn.gov.in,” he said.
