Yesterday, the Qatar Football Association dismissed Spanish coach Marques Lopes, after the first national team suffered three losses in six matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and appointed his assistant and compatriot, Luis Garcia, as his successor to lead Al-Annabi in the Gulf Cup.
The Federation published a message on its account on the “X” platform, in which it thanked the coach “for the great efforts and achievements he achieved during his period of supervising the training of the national team,” and explained in a brief statement that “it was agreed to appoint the Spaniard Luis Garcia as the new coach of our national team, to lead ( Annabi) in (Gulf 26) in the State of Kuwait. The Gulf Cup will be held between the 21st of this month and the third of next January.
