The General Authority of Sports announced the launch of the “Sports Talents” platform, as part of the transformational project “Empowering and Sustaining Sports Talents”. The platform aims to support the process of discovering 1,500 new sports talents and providing the necessary care for them to develop, embrace and empower these talents, in line with the “We the Emirates 2031” vision, so that the Emirati society is inclusive and empowering for everyone in terms of sports.
The “Sports Talents” platform comes as an advanced tool for collecting data and information related to sports talents, starting from the registration stage and reaching the empowerment stage, by monitoring sports festivals and events concerned with discovering talents in the community, in cooperation with sports federations and relevant educational institutions in the UAE, with the aim of linking talented athletes with appropriate opportunities to develop their skills and direct their abilities and potentials on the right path.
For his part, Ghanem Al Hajri, Director General of the General Authority for Sports, said: “The project aims to expand the base of sports practice for promising talents and develop their sports culture and the culture of professionalism, through the platform, to ensure the sustainability of sports talents in line with the values and principles of the (Year of Sustainability) initiative, in addition to enhancing the process of discovering talents to build a brighter future for Emirati sports.”
He added: “This project reflects the Authority’s intensive efforts, in coordination with partners in the sports sector and the public and private sectors, to develop national plans to discover and empower sports talents to continuously and systematically advance the reality of sports in the UAE.”
For his part, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, said: “Through this project, we seek to develop a comprehensive database of sports talents in the country through the electronic platform, which is distinguished by being available for registration for all young talents, whether participating in sports events or not, so that this platform will be the main channel of communication with talented athletes in the UAE.”
Suhail bin Butti stressed that increasing the number of activities dedicated to discovering talents and empowering them will contribute to strengthening the national identity of our sports talents and achieving national sports ambitions.
He added: “Supporting promising sports talents and sports federations financially and administratively will enhance the chances of success for athletes who have the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics. It will also contribute to enhancing the chances of success for Emirati athletes in international sports competitions and achieving sports achievements at all levels, in order to achieve the goals of the National Sports Strategy 2031 by qualifying more than 30 Emirati athletes to participate in the 2032 Olympic Games.”
Objectives of the “Sports Talents” Platform
The “Sports Talents” platform aims to discover sports talents according to age group, monitor and document initiatives and programs for discovering and empowering sports talents, increase the number of participants, programs and activities related to discovering sports talents, and build a comprehensive database of sports talents in various competitive sports.
The General Sports Authority has set a number of standards to enhance the discovery and empowerment of sports talents, with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the concerned parties to achieve the principles of sound sports management and institutional governance in order to commit to and ensure the implementation of the sports plans, programmes, objectives and strategies of the concerned parties.
