Sydney: India’s External Affairs Minister Jaishankar described businessman and investor George Soros as “an old, rich, dogmatic and dangerous man who wants his ideas to dictate how the whole world should run”.
Speaking at a program in Sydney, Australia, Foreign Affairs Minister Jaishankar said: The old, rich, stubborn George Soros is sitting in New York City and still wants the world to run according to his ideas. These types use wealth to construct stories.
People like him call it a good thing if their favorite people win the election and come to power, but if the election gives a negative result, they call it a democratic defect.
Looking at our own democracy, I have the right to vote today. Never before. Election results are decisive. Electoral procedures are beyond questions. We are not one of those countries that go to court to challenge the results of an election after it is over.
India is a democracy, but I don’t see Indian Prime Minister Modi as a democrat, said George Soares. Earlier also he had accused us of depriving lakhs of Muslims of their citizenship. Nothing like that happened. This is a ridiculous suggestion.
Globalization offers more opportunities while allowing structured ideas, cash flow and projects for companies. All this is happening under the guise of transparency of an open society. When you make threats like this, millions of people can lose their citizenship. This will cause big impacts in the society because few of them trust you. You breed that kind of mental illness. The minister spoke thus.
Earlier, American businessman George Soares, who runs Open Society, a foundation to promote democracy and freedom of expression, said, “Modi and Adani are very close. Their development was intertwined. Now the Adani Group is collapsing like a deck of cards. But Modi is silent on this issue. He should answer the questions of international investors in Parliament. The collapse of Adani Group will weaken Modi’s rule. In a sense, it will create an opportunity for democratic renaissance in India,” he opined.
Union Minister Smriti Irani had accused George Soros’ speech as an attack on Indian democracy. On Friday, he said: Sorus wants to subvert India’s democracy for his personal gain. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a financial assistance of 1 billion dollars. Soras feels that the Indian government should bend to his will. He is working to put his favorable people in power in India. He was declared an economic war criminal for collapsing the Bank of England. Now he is trying to destroy India’s democracy. He has embarked on this initiative at a time when India is becoming the 5th largest economy. It is a war on India.
Indians will unite and defeat foreign powers that try to interfere in India’s internal affairs. We will face people like George Soros who are trying to destabilize India under the leadership of PM Modi. Smriti Irani has condemned this.
