Thiruvananthapuram: Minister K Radhakrishnan has said that 425 children have been sent abroad in the last two years through the Unnati Scholarship for Foreign Studies. This year 310 children will be given scholarship for study abroad. The Minister said that their career prospects can be expanded through study abroad along with more study opportunities.

Minister K Radhakrishnan said that the aim of the project is to ensure access of students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to the wider global field of knowledge.

Selection of courses, opportunities offered by the institution, relevance and acceptance of the course within and outside our country, academic growth, career prospects, material benefits expected for the student and family are the relevant factors considered for the scholarship.

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Caste Development Departments are implementing the project in collaboration with Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC). A maximum of Rs 25 lakhs will be available as a scholarship. Qualification is a recognized degree with not less than 55% marks. Age limit should be less than 35 years. The guidelines for the Onnati Scholarship for Higher Studies Abroad have been specified vide Government Order GO (MS) 22/2023/SCSTD dated: 01.08.2023.
