Ramireddy, a sportsman, wished his daughter to become a cricketer. When Trisha was born, Ramireddy told his wife Madhavi that ‘when my child is a bit older, instead of cartoon channels, show cricket on TV’. Like that, Trisha was shown cricket instead of cartoons. At the age of two and a half, he started training with a plastic ball and bat. When she was five years old, she took her to the gym and used to throw three balls to Trisha a day. After that, a cement pitch was set up and Trisha practiced.
Ramireddy felt that Trisha needed better training. In 2012, while she was practicing batting in the nets, Ramireddy took a video and showed it to John Manoj and Srinivas, the coaches at St. John’s Academy in Hyderabad. Coach Manoj, who is the director of that academy, was impressed by Trisha’s performance. This paved the way for her to come to Hyderabad.
Ramireddy made many sacrifices to bring his daughter to Hyderabad. Besides giving up his job as a gym trainer in ITC, he sold his own gym to his relatives for less than half the price. So he shifted to Secunderabad along with his family for his daughter’s game.
The coaches noticed Trisha’s technical knowledge of the game at the age of seven, and advised Trisha, who was a fast bowler till then, to do leg spin. So she started doing leg spin imitating Anil Kumble.
Within two years of shifting to the city from Bhadrachalam, Trisha was playing for the Hyderabad Under-16 team. The following year she represented the state in Under-19 and Under-23. Trisha then got a chance to play in the Under-19 Challenger Trophy.
After some time, Hyderabad Under-19 Women’s coach Nooshin Al Qadeer was told about Trisha by her coaches. Like Trisha’s performance, she also allocated time for Trisha. After some time Indian fielding coach R Sridhar also became a part of that coaching academy. This also improved Trisha’s fielding.
Trisha’s father was very happy to see the improvement in her playing. He also sold a four-acre farm to pay for his daughter’s development as a good cricketer. As a result of her father’s sacrifice and her hard work, Trisha was selected for Team India in the Under-19 Women’s World Cup. By showing her strength in the mega tournament, she made her forget all the hardships and pains her father went through for her. If Trisha shows the same style of play, it is certain that she will get a place in the senior team soon.
