The National Payments Corporation of India has announced that no merchant will be charged for RuPay credit card transactions on UPI below Rs 2,000. This will encourage even merchants who don’t accept credit cards fearing the merchant discount rate to take up the RuPay credit card option.

Last day, HDFC announced that it has launched an offline digital payment pilot project for customers to enable digital payments in areas with poor mobile network coverage, including small towns and villages. Under the Reserve Bank of India’s Regulatory Sandbox programme, HDFC Bank introduced the offline payment system in collaboration with Crunchfish. HDFC said the service will be available to customers of other banks through an invite link during a four-month trial phase.
