The government is setting up one clinic at a cost of Rs.13.2 lakh. The government is setting up more than two Basti Dawakhanas in each area according to the population within the municipalities and municipal corporations. Out of these, the work of 14 Basti Davakhanas has already been completed, and work is going on in 36 other areas. There is a possibility that the government will start these basti dispensaries soon. Free medicines are provided to the patients along with free medical treatment. Also, 60 types of medical tests will be provided free of charge in Basti clinics. Samples are collected at basti dispensaries and sent to free diagnostic centers set up by the state government.
Basti hospitals are very useful for the poor. Poor people who cannot afford to go to private hospitals get medical services through basti dispensaries. People are coming in large numbers to Basti Davakhanas across the state. As free medical services and free medicines are given, common and middle class people also go to basti hospitals for treatment. Basti Dawakhanas have already been established in all areas in Hyderabad.. Government is now establishing Basti Dawakhanas in urban areas across the state. Under the auspices of the Health Department, the Municipal Administration and the Urban Development Department are establishing basti clinics under the jurisdiction of the municipality and municipal corporations.
Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao said earlier that after the establishment of basti clinics in urban areas, they will be set up in rural areas as well. He said that dispensaries are going to be set up in villages across the state in the coming days. Harish Rao said that the government is taking steps towards the goal of health Telangana and is working to increase the infrastructure in the medical sector. He said that Basti Davakhanas are serving the poor and have provided better medical services during Corona.
