San Francisco. Tech giant Google has announced that it will no longer sell the wearable device ‘Glass Enterprise Edition’. The tech giant will continue to support the wearable device till September 15, 2023.
“After September 15, 2023, you will continue to use Glass Enterprise Edition devices and existing software. There are no software updates planned from Google,” the company wrote on its support page on Wednesday.
Also, the pre-installed ‘Meet on Glass’ application will not get any support from the company after September 15 and the application may stop working any time after that date.
Google will continue to replace devices under the current process until September 15, 2023. Please contact your distributor/reseller to submit the replacement request on your behalf.
The first Google Glass was introduced to much fanfare in 2014. For $1,500, it held the promise of a new era.
However, people realized that the device was yet to become a part of their lives. It had safety and health issues. The built-in camera also raised privacy issues.
Later, in 2019, the tech giant had launched the second edition of the wearable device ‘Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2’, with improved cameras, USB-C type port and protective frame.(IANS)
