Puducherry: The Agriculture Festival-2023 and 33rd Flower, Fruit and Fruit Festival started on 10th at AFT ground on Cuddalore Road on behalf of Puducherry Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department. The closing ceremony was held on Sunday night.
Chief Minister Rangaswamy attended and gave prizes including Malar Raja and Rani to the winners of the competitions. He spoke at the ceremony. We are fulfilling our promises to the people of Puducherry.
We have given financial assistance of Rs.1,000 to 11,000 women. We will provide the rest soon. Bicycles for students will be provided after 16th. The arable land in Puducherry has decreased from 30 thousand hectares due to urban expansion.
However, there has been an increase in agricultural production. So the terrace should be implemented. We have implemented subsidy for farmers, provision of cows, increase in purchase price of milk.
Farmers and educated youth should help to increase milk production. Educated youth should come forward to start a dairy farm. Puducherry is unable to get milk from outside the state despite paying high prices. He said that steps have been taken to waive off the loans taken by the farmers from the cooperative banks and funds have also been allocated.
Legislative Assembly Speaker Selvam and Minister Thanee attended the ceremony. Jayakumar and Agriculture Department officials were present.
