New Delhi. The Indian stock market opened with gains on Monday’s trading session. The stock market is witnessing an all-round rise. At 9:24 am, the Sensex was at 83,003 with a gain of 112 points or 0.14 percent and the Nifty was at 25,386 with a gain of 29 points or 0.12 percent.
In early trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 180.92 points to 83,071.86. The NSE Nifty rose 55.1 points to 25,411.60. Later, the NSE benchmark rose 89.2 points to a new record level of 25,445.70. Among the blue chip companies, shares of NTPC, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Asian Paints rose by 1 percent. Whereas HUL shares fell by 2%.
Sector-wise, only the FMCG sector stocks showed weakness. It fell by 0.76%. On the other hand, Nifty Metal jumped by 1% due to buying in PSU bank shares. Adani Power and Adani Green shares rose by 4% each after receiving an order for supply of 6600 MW of hybrid solar and thermal power from DISCOM in Maharashtra.
Among the 30 Sensex companies, NTPC, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Larsen & Toubro and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers. Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, ICICI Bank and Tata Consultancy Services lagged behind. In the Asian stock market, Shanghai and Hong Kong declined. The US markets closed in the positive zone on Friday.
