The Jiu-Jitsu Federation announced the continuation of preparations for the launch of the third round of the “Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship” dedicated to the “without suit” category competitions, during the period from September 27 to 29 at the “Al Bayt Mutawahid” Hall in Sharjah.
The third round of the five-round tournament, which is being held during the current season in different regions of the country, attracts the participation of players from different age groups, including juniors, youth, seniors and masters, which enhances the spirit of competition and supports the development of the game in the country.
The Jiu-Jitsu Federation said in a statement yesterday that the championship gives participating players the opportunity to test their skills in the “No Suit” category, which requires the utmost speed, fitness and technical skill, and provides players and clubs with a platform to win medals and cash prizes worth up to one and a half million dirhams, leading to the championship title and the cup in its final round, which will be held in Abu Dhabi in December of this year, according to a comprehensive classification system based on evaluating the results of participating clubs and players in all rounds, and aims to ensure equality and enhance the spirit of competition.
The organizing committee held an extraordinary meeting to develop plans to accommodate the exceptional turnout, in which it decided to extend the competition days to three days instead of two, and to reopen registration, to provide the opportunity to participate in the competitions to the largest number of players.
For his part, Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The great turnout to participate in the third round of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, dedicated to the (without suit) category competitions in Sharjah, reflects the continuous development witnessed by the sport of Jiu-Jitsu in the country. This round represents an important step in terms of discovering and developing talents, which qualifies them to achieve achievements at the regional and international levels.”
