Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his admiration for what he saw from his Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush in his first appearance with the team during the match against Chelsea, on Saturday.
“He faced a very difficult and strong opponent, like Reece James, who is physically strong,” Guardiola said of Marmoush.
However, the Spanish coach pointed out that the Egyptian international excelled in moving without the ball, but he blamed the midfield trio for not reading those movements.
Regarding this, he said: “The midfielders did not see these movements, so Gundogan and Kovacic, as well as Bernardo, needed to be more intelligent.”
He added: “But we need more time to understand his movements well.”
At the conclusion of his statements, Guardiola confirmed Marmoush’s absence from his team’s match against Club Brugge next Wednesday, at the end of the first round of the Champions League.
