Josep Guardiola, coach of the Manchester City soccer team, confirmed that Arsenal remains in control of the race for the Premier League title, despite losing the top spot to Manchester City last Wednesday.
And the British news agency “BA Media” stated that Manchester City, the defending champion, topped the standings, after beating Arsenal 3-1 last Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.
After being eight points behind, Manchester City appeared to have momentum, but Guardiola exaggerates this matter.
“Arsenal still has a game in hand,” Guardiola said before facing Nottingham Forest on Saturday. “Not a lot of things have changed.”
He added, “When you are ahead by a large number of points or behind by a large number of points, yes, there is a big difference, but we are close.”
And he added: “Momentum, when you win ten matches in a row, and this did not happen this season. We lost three games ago in London against Tottenham.”
And he stressed: “The momentum will be there tomorrow at three o’clock – be ready, mentally, against a team that has lost one of its last six games, won important matches at home, with its fans and with a coach whom I respect a lot for what he has done for English football.”
