A special company has been formed to build six sports complexes to host the Summer Olympic Games. . The company was formed in the name of ‘Gujarat Olympic Planning and Infrastructure Corporation Limited’. Reports say that it has been around three months since the company was formed. A board meeting has already taken place.
The company had set up a pavilion at the Vibrant Gujarat Trade Show inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar. The company is considering developing an area of around 350 acres around Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in Motera area of Ahmedabad. The aim is to develop the area and upgrade the infrastructure for the Olympics. Sports Enclave is under construction. Narendra Modi Stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world in terms of spectator capacity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to host the Olympics. According to reports, the company has prepared a master plan to develop Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave spread over 350 acres in Motera and surrounding areas. It is indicated that the plan is to build six sports complexes on 350 acres of land as per a design selected earlier through open bid.
The company has recently awarded contracts to selected firms to design these sports complexes, and the total cost of the project is now pegged at Rs 6,000 crore, though the amount could go up further.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed to the International Olympic Organization that India is interested in hosting the 2029 Youth Olympics. This will enable the country to prepare for the 2036 Summer Olympics.
